WEEK FOUR – FINALE WEEK of FESTIVAL CAIRNS 08
Well, Cairns has turned all out over the last three weeks – living and loving Cairns and its Environment…AND…Festival. Great attendances to both free and ticketed events are testimony to its success…and thank heavens our gorgeous spring weather returned on Friday afternoon for a bumper Amateurs ball and race day on Saturday. Other highlights were a win for the Skytrans Taipans at their opening home game of the season against the Dragons…and yesterday, BDO Kendall’s Swing by the Lagoon was a fabulous success…families et al flocking to the esplanade for a wonderful afternoon of music…and didn’t the kids love the free balloon-art (sponsored by Festival Cairns) showcasing the amazing creativity of Cody and Dani. The weekend fun culminated in Superkids Circus at Tanks, Festival Cairns Cup (yacht race) and Pictures in the Park at Fogarty Park – screening Hairspray and Enchanted…that were postponed earlier on in the week.
This week, kicks off in style with some great events still on the program….don’t miss The Audrey’s on Friday night at Tanks, Harbourlights inaugural Wine and Dine Lunch, Ergon Energy’s Busking Festival – finals of amateur comp and three day program of five international acts – putting beat back in the streets.
And if you get time, check out JUTE’s latest production, 7 Deadly Australian Sins – I attended the opening night on Friday – absolutely fantastic production!! SEE IT, SEE IT!!!
Please note, there are media opportunities included in week one e-news. They are written in RED. Other opportunities will no doubt arise during the week and will be issued / notified under separate cover.
