Festival Cairns 08 will ‘rock on’ into week one with books, basketball, music and theatre culminating in action-packed weekend with TimeOUT Concert at Cairns Showgrounds on Saturday 30 August and the final of the NBL QLD Cup at the Fish Tank on Sunday 31 August.

• In its second year, Dress Up Your Business has captivated the business community achieving a record of 30 plus entries from businesses throughout the city vying for the chance to dress up their shop fronts and office space in Festival colours and icons while competing for a chance to win big – $500 prize money up for grabs for first prize and Birch Carroll and Coyle movie pass packages for the runners-up.

• On Saturday 6 September, Events NQ will once again stage Food, Wine and All That Jazz – which is not surprisingly, one of Festival Cairns’ most popular and iconic events.
Rydges Tradwinds Catering’s executive chef, John Crank will present one of his special dishes (Moroccan lamb curry with cous-cous & lemon wedges) that will be served to guests attending the fourth annual Food, Wine and All That Jazz event in a new waterfront location on the Esplanade (north of Skate Park). He will be joined by Felix the Firedancer and his pyro-technique crew who, at the event, will perform along with popular dance band, Hip2Soul, four piece band Paris Texas and Gherkin the Clown (stilt walking, balloon sculpture, juggling and clowning for kid’s space).
